iSEC Partners, a security consulting firm and a part of NCC Group, along with Electronic Frontier Foundation, and DEF CON, announces further details of TrustyCon, the first-ever Trustworthy Technology Conference. In fewer than six days since announcing the event, tickets for attendance reached capacity, as did the agenda for speakers and panelists. TrustyCon will explore the notion that technology should not only be secure, but should also be trustworthy. TrustyCon will be held on February 27, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PT at the AMC Metreon 16, Auditorium 15 in San Francisco.

This event will feature thought-provoking presentations on the value of honesty in technology and its impact on the industry and the economy. Selected by iSEC Partners, this year’s speakers and session topics prioritize and refocus trust in technology.

The main program agenda includes:

  • Alex Stamos, TrustyCon creator and iSEC Partners co-founder – Opening and Closing Remarks
  • Mikko Hypponen, F-Secure, Chief Research Officer – The Talk I Was Going to Give at RSA
  • Jeff Moss, DEF CON and Black Hat Founder
  • Marcia Hofmann, Privacy Attorney, and Christopher Soghoian, American Civil Liberties Union, Principal Technologist – The Laws and Ethics of Trustworthy Technology
  • Chris Palmer, Google, Software Security Engineer, and Dan Boneh, Stanford University, Professor of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering – New Frontiers in Cryptography
  • Steve Weis, CTO and Co-Founder of PrivateCore – Trusted Computing Tech and Government Implants
  • Ed Felten, Princeton University, Professor of Computer Science and Public Affairs – Redesigning NSA Programs to Protect Privacy
  • Joseph Menn, Cybersecurity and Technology Reporter, Reuters, and Bruce Schneier, Chief Technology Officer, Co3 Systems – Q&A Session

“While our initial priority for speakers at TrustyCon was to give a voice to ex-RSAC speakers, we also want the show to be dynamic and engaging,” says Alex Stamos, TrustyCon creator and iSEC Partners co-founder. ”We connected with many qualified speakers across a variety of subjects, regardless of their involvement with RSAC, as we want to ensure this event benefits as many attendees as possible and is well-rounded.”

TrustyCon has reached attendee capacity and has now opened a waitlist for general admission. All proceeds from ticket sales go to the EFF. In addition to high demand for tickets, TrustyCon also received inquiries and proposals from an overwhelming number of speakers.

“Confirmed attendees and sponsors have voiced their desire to be a part of the event and collaborate on ways that we – as individuals, small businesses, companies, and as a national industry – can solve security issues in tech,” Stamos continued. “TrustyCon provides them a platform for their voice.”

TrustyCon is grateful to have the following companies as supporters and sponsors of the conference: CloudFare, Mithril Capital, DigiCert, eSentire, SpiderOak, iSEC Partners, and GlobalSign.
